Aluminum Plate 5754: Characteristics and Applications
Overview
Aluminum plate 5754 is part of the Al-Mg series of anti-rust aluminum. It offers higher strength than 3A21, with excellent fatigue strength, plasticity, and corrosion resistance. It cannot be strengthened through heat treatment.
Welding and Machinability
- Welding: Suitable for atomic hydrogen welding, contact welding, and argon arc welding with minimal crystallization cracking.
- Machinability: Good machinability in cold work hardening and half cold work hardening conditions. Poor machinability in the annealed state. The alloy can be polished.
Mechanical Properties
- Tensile Strength (σ): ≤ 225 MPa
- Elongation (δ): ≥ 10%
Note: These properties are for rod longitudinal mechanical properties at room temperature. The sample size refers to a bar diameter (square bar, hexagonal bar inscribed circle diameter) of 150 mm or less.
Heat Treatment Specifications
- Homogenizing Annealing: Heat to 440°C. Hold for 12-14 hours; air cool.
- Rapid Annealing: Heat to 350°C. Hold for 30-120 minutes; air or water cool.
- High Temperature Annealing: Heat to 350°C. For thickness < 6 mm, hold for 2-10 minutes; for thickness ≥ 6 mm, hold for 10-30 minutes; air cool.
- Low Temperature Annealing: Heat to 250-300°C and 150-180°C. Hold for 1-2 hours; air cool.
