Aluminum Plate 7075
Composition and Properties
Aluminum plate 7075 primarily contains zinc as its main alloy element. Adding 3% to 7.5% magnesium to the zinc alloy forms MgZn2, which significantly enhances its strength. This makes the alloy’s heat treatment effect superior to that of aluminum-zinc binary alloys. Increasing zinc and magnesium content further boosts tensile strength, though it reduces resistance to stress corrosion and spalling corrosion. When heat-treated, 7075 achieves very high strength. Small amounts of copper and chromium are also added. The A7075 variant, considered a top-grade aluminum alloy, offers much higher strength than mild steel and exhibits excellent mechanical properties and anodic reaction.
